Affordable Ways to Embrace Fall and Winter

We tend to slow down a bit more during the fall and winter months than in summer. We often take time to enjoy the indoors. We take time to enjoy the small moments. We enjoy time with ourselves. Or spend time with our loved ones.  That is one of the biggest reasons I love those two seasons.

Why I love Fall and Winter

Fall and winter are my favorite seasons! You may be wondering what I love about these seasons. During fall and winter, we can enjoy celebrating with our loved ones.

It also signifies embracing a calmer lifestyle, devoid of work obligations. Those who enjoy fall and winter tend to stay indoors. On not-so-chilly days or those snowy days, we get a chance outside.

Instead, you welcome the colder weather both inside and outside. The decision is yours! Changing weather does not always have to stop you from doing what you love.

Whatever gives you peace, comfort, and happiness is a part of fall and winter. The ideas included are affordable ways to embrace fall and winter.

How to embrace Fall and Winter

Here are activities and things you can do to make the most of fall and winter.

1. Enjoy reading a book

You had a busy summer and needed more time to read your favorite books. You have more time around the holidays to visit your local library or bookstore.

Ordering your favorite book online is also an option. Look for books that interest you or allow you to learn something new!

The book below is one book I read a couple of years ago. Frances Brody has splendid books if you are looking for new books to read this fall from her.

In November, I will be reading MC Beaton’s Hot to Trot. The main character is Agatha Raisin, who is an interesting and funny woman detective.

Anne Perry is also releasing a new book in November. This series is one of the most intriguing mysteries. I cannot put the book down when I read it.

2. Enjoy decorating your home with cozy items

You can decorate for the holidays and make your home relaxing with a few additional pieces. Add fluffy pillows and light candles to create a peaceful atmosphere.

3. Embrace seasonal food

There are many things to enjoy, including comfort food. Nothing is more soothing than a bowl of warm Mac and cheese or a warm piece of apple pie. Enjoy the nourishing benefits of comfort food, which warms your soul. Do not forget to eat seasonal produce for taste and maintain good health.

4. Go outdoors

There is a perception that in the fall and winter, outdoor activities become less enjoyable. That does not have to be true if you prepare for the weather. Wearing layers or outerwear will keep you warm. Also, invest in a good pair of boots and accessories.

5. Takes a break from technology

Unplug and unwind during the holidays. Turn off your phone for a few hours. Instead of being glued to your device, use that time to connect with others. Or spend that time reconnecting with yourself by writing in your journal. Find comforting activities that will help you to relax and enjoy life more.

6. Take a Drive

Take a drive to see the changing leaves. You can go into your town or take a trip out of town.

7. Enjoy wearing pajamas and loungewear

People love to wear comfortable clothing in fall and winter. Some jump into their pajamas as soon as they come home from work. Since I work from home, I spend most of my time in loungewear in fall and winter! It seems easier to wear cozy pajamas and hoodies in this colder weather. Find you some pajamas and sleepwear to make you feel relaxed!

Conclusion:

I wrote this post after reading about Hygge and Coorie Lifestyle years ago. This lifestyle embraces living a simple and comfortable life. Hygge is about appreciating the small moments in life. It focuses more on self-care and stepping back from the stresses of the modern world. Coorie is the Gaelic word for nestle or snuggle. Hygge is more indoors and Coorie is outdoors. Each lifestyle is wonderful because it allows people to embrace colder weather and life.
