Strictly Business: What to Wear to Work This Summer

If you read my last few posts you know that I just came back from my break! I enjoyed my time out of town because sometimes you have to get a break from your everyday life. Now that I am back I realize that I need to get ready for school.

I am going back to school to become a teacher. I am in serious need outfits for my internship at school. Since  I am becoming a teacher I need to make a great first-day expression!

But I don't too overdress since it is so hot! If you are facing the same dilemma finding cool and professional looks you came to the right place! Today I went discussing how to cool summer work looks.

Disclaimer: This post is for individuals who work, go to school, or attend meetings outside the home. These looks however, can be worn in other settings such as church.

What is Business Casual Dress Code

To create your school looks you have to keep in mind what the dress code is for your school. Most schools recommend business casual. Business casual means casual attire that does not include graphic shirts or denim.

For example, my program requires I wear pants, modest length skirts, jackets, suits, and shirts. All of these items are not consider formal but more casual. The program goes into further detail on what prints and colors are appropriate for school.

My top or dress can be a print of nonneutral color. My blazer, pants, or skirts have to be neutral in color and have no patterns. Not everybody's dress code is that strict, so I will include prints and colors in this post.

Now we can focus on finding the right looks for this summer!

Summer Office Style

Look One

If your job requires you have to have a jacket or blazer, choose a linen blazer for summer. This will prevent you from being too warm at work.

Since you are wearing a blazer you can get away with wearing a t-shirt. Choose cotton or jersey blend because it will also help you to stay cool.

Look Three

Lyocell Top

Most of the time business casual does not include denim fashion. Some jobs do allow you to wear denim or dress down days. But if you can't wear denim you can wear lyocell.

Lyocell is like denim but more lightweight and breathable. These two properties will help you doing the summer. So embrace lyocell items if you want to have a more casual element to your look.

Cotton Blend Pants

If you prefer wearing pants but still want to feel comfortable pick a pair of cotton blend pants. This will help you to bear the heat weather this season.

For those who can wear bright colored bottoms, this pant would is right for you.

These comfy pants will allow you to tuck in your longer tops or finally allow you to wear shorter tops to work.

Tie-Dye Top Look

Sometimes it is good to wear a trendy item to work. A tie-dye top would be a safe bet to wear without to your job without worrying about getting a call from Human Resources! lol Choosing a trendy print is not going to break any dress codes but will get you a few compliments.

For those who do not like tie-dye, you always try an animal print blouse or floral print. Both of these prints are trending for this season!

Conclusion:

Whatever you wear to work or school this summer make sure you choose fabrics that will stand the heat. This will prevent you from having to break any of the dress codes by wearing thin or shorter items. When you shop or put your looks together focus on staples.

Pick colors that look good with almost anything so you can mix and match looks. Also, choose classic pieces you can easily wear your days off or into next season (fall).  All of the items I choose you can transition from day to night or fall.

Just switch out your shoe wear or choose thicker layers if you want to wear this looks in autumn.
