Have you ever had a hard time figuring out what items to put in your bag for your trip to the beach? I mean there are so many things you may need to take, besides your bathing suit, sandals, and . But you don't want to pack too much. Well, I have come up with essential items you should have at the beachThings that will protect your skin, and keep you cool, and comfortable. 


Even if you not going to the beach there are still some essentials to have on hand for your summer travel. Whether you go to the beach or the mountains, you will need these things. All of these items are things you have on hand if plan on spending time outside. 

Some of the items I have tried. Other items are highly tested and rated by consumers or researchers of products. 



Pack these items and you will have to worry about not having everything you need. So, get a pen and paper and write down these items. You can also save this post. Once you have your list all you have to worry about is enjoying the summer.

1. Bug Repellant

Since you are outdoors you may need to have bug repellant. It is hard to find one that is not harsh on your skin. Look for natural products. Most likely they will not only work for your skin but also would be a better product.

My favorite Sunblock product is Blackgirl sunscreen. I love it because it is not greasy but rather moisturizing. It also does not break my skin out like other brands. It makes my skin look better after applying. Pick a sunblock that has broad-spectrum protection. Choose the ones that have SPF 30 or higher. Make sure the sunscreen protects you from both UVA and UVB. Check the label to see if it offers broad-spectrum protection. Since you are at the beach use a waterproof sunscreen. Which over one you pick, make sure to reapply every 2 hours.

3. Sunglasses


To keep the sun out of your eyes and help you look even cooler! The best shades are the ones that protect from UVA and UVB rays. The label on the glasses should also say 100 % protection against UV 400.

4. Mesh Bag for Wet Clothing


If you are on the beach, chances, are you will get your clothing or suit wet. Instead of allowing your clothes to soak up your other items.

For those hot sticky days bring face wipes. You can use these to wipe the sweat or sand off your face.

6. SPF Lip-gloss or Balm

I always try to keep deodorant in my bag, especially in the long hot summer days. A mini deodorant would be best to store in your bag!

8. Hat


When I used to work outdoors, I made sure that I wore a hat to shield the sun from my face and to prevent me from getting too hot. Tip: To prevent your hat from being flattened you could stuff your towel with it before you pack it in your bag, hang the tag on the outside of your bag by lopping it on your bag handle, or simply place it on top of everything else you packed!

9. Portable Charger 

If you are planning to stay on the beach for hours, your phone or other electronic devices may die. You will need a beach towel if you plan on lying on the beach.  I picked the ones that are easy to pack (not bulky) and dry quicker. You don't have to worry about anything getting wet from being near it.

11. Water Bottle 

Just in case you get thirsty after being on the beach for hours. It is also good to take your own water bottle just in case you do have access to a water fountain. You will also save some money bringing your own drinks to the beach. Bringing your own bottle will save you money because you will be less tempted to buy one of the expensive gift shop water bottles. You can even get a water bottle with a filtration device if you do not trust the tap water in your location.

When going for a swim, you will need to protect your valuables. If there is no locker for your items, you can invest in a lock case.
