Valentine's Day is a day that people usually spend with their significant other! But have you thought about spending that day focusing on your own self-care?
This may seem selfish (it is not) but if you have been neglecting yourself lately this is the perfect time to do something for yourself.
I believe this is especially true for those who often spend their days caring for others. Valentine's Day can be a day for spreading love to themselves. As a caregiver, parent, or spouse you may not get the alone time you need, and this day would be a great time to give yourself some attention.
I also believe this is a good time for those who are single to take care of themselves. Those who are single need to enjoy their own company and show themselves some love.
So, I came up with a few self-care activities people can do this Valentine's Day or any day they feel like it!
1. Write yourself a love note.
We usually wait for others to express their love and admiration for us but sometimes we neglect to express our love for ourselves. Take time to write a love note to yourself. Write down the qualities you love about yourself.
2. Take yourself on a date
Some people don't like doing activities on their own or rarely get time to go out by themselves. Use Valentine's Day as a day when you finally get to go out alone. Rather it is going to your favorite restaurant or seeing that movie that you always wanted to see. You can also go to a cafe or library. Find a place that have not been in a while.
3. Read your favorite book
Cozy up with your favorite book and take time to read. Savor every word and think about what the author is trying to convey. Take notes or write down your favorite part. Just enjoy what you are reading.
4. Treat yourself
Rather you buy yourself some chocolates or you buy yourself some flowers. Treat yourself with something you have not brought yourself in a long time.
5. Write in your journal
Write about your accomplishments or reflect on your day. Whatever you want to get off your chest now is the time! Write about what you would want out of life.
6. Get off social media
On this one day take a break from social media. Take time just to rest your eyes and mind from the outside world. Use that time to do an activity you have done in a long time like doing your nails or just taking a walk.
Doing this will help not only your physical health but your mental health too.
7. Play your favorite songs
When was the last time you listened to your favorite song or songs? Play your favorite songs that make you happy and do a little dance if you want to. Just enjoy Valentine's Day!
