Icing on the Murder
Introduction
Icing on the Murder features Maddy as the protagonist. She has finally turned her bakery, Baby Cakes Bakery, into a successful business venture. Maddy inherited it from her Aunt Octavia. Now Maddy is about to marry the love of her life. Michael Portman’s profession is a veterinarian. Since her marriage is happening soon, she secured a spot at the wedding expo to show her wedding case. If that was not good enough news, she received a call from Serafina’s and was invited to be a wedding contestant. Winners will compete to win an all-expenses-paid wedding. The host is Serafina, a world-class diva and troublemaking wedding planner.
Serafina has a reputation for being a bully, especially to the people who work for her. But on camera, she commands attention, and viewers eat it up. Serafina will do anything to make a name for herself. Including embarrassment and lying to the contestants. But someone finally gets tired of her behavior. Instead of planning her wedding, Maddy must now investigate the murder with April.
Thoughts
It takes a while to get to the murder scene, which does happen. It happens about forty-one percent into the book. However, I enjoyed reading the overly exciting scene that came before that.
Icing on the Murder is a slow-paced cozy bakery mystery. The murder scene happens about forty-one percent into the book. I also enjoyed Baby, Maddy’s dog. To me, he is the scene stealer of the book. Baby is a fierce protector. That scene at the taping proved he is the type of man to have in your life.
